Who did Mozart admire among his contemporaries? Joseph Haydn, of course, whose passionate Symphony No. 44 beautifully represents the Sturm und Drang movement, also perceptible in Mozart’s Symphony No. 25, where the minor key expresses a tragic atmosphere. He also admired Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach, whose Cello Concerto and Orchestra testify to the transition between the Baroque and Classical periods.
Who better than Concentus Musicus Wien, invited every season to La Seine Musicale, and Christophe Coin to offer us an exceptional version of these works?
