Violin Concerto in D major
Instrumentation
solo vl / 0.2.0.0 / 2.0.0.0 / continuo / strings
The Violin Concerto in D major (Freeman 1/3/8) is the fifth of the six concertos by Mysliveček preserved in a copy from the early 1770s in Vienna.
Perhaps Mysliveček composed them for his artistic tour to central Europe in 1772. Marc Pincherle recognized the affinity of the first movement of this concerto with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s K. 218 as early as the 1920s. Mozart already knew the violin concertos by Mysliveček in 1773, citing one of them in his letter from 8th September 1773.

The Violin Concerto in E major (Freeman 1/3/4, [E. 9a:E1]) is the first of the six concertos by Mysliveček that survive in a copy made in Vienna in the early 1770s.
Perhaps Mysliveček composed them for his artistic tour of central Europe in 1772. The concertos are among the most important contributions to the genre in their time. They served, among other things, as a model for Mozart, who was already familiar with them in 1773 and quoted one of them in his letter of 8 September 1773.

Ouverture No. 2 in A
Instrumentation
0.2.0.0 / 2.0.0.0 / continuo / strings (two viola parts)
Ouverture No. 2 in A is called Symphony in the catalogues of Josef Mysliveček’s works (Freeman 1/1/27, [E. 10:A2]).
William Napier published the work in London as the second in a collection of six overtures dedicated to Lord Cowper. Mysliveček probably composed these symphonies in Florence between 1770 and 1771.
It is one of his masterpieces of this kind. According to the Italian fashion of the time, they contain divided viola parts.
